Add Quarantine Queen to the resume

Add Quarantine Queen to the resume

Published by Paigan Bartholomaeus on 30th Mar 2020

We would just like to start off this blog by giving you a big, virtual pat on the back! Self isolating is bloody tough work but with kids, well we think that’s worth a few gold medals (and several glasses of wine)

We are the first to admit that this new normal life we have been unexpectedly thrust into is hard yakka. For many of us, we suspect home-schooling was something that never crossed your minds (or if it did it was met with shivers down your spine and some stern words) but here we are, playing teachers while also maintaining the role of wife, mum, partner, sister, daughter and woman. That’s no easy feat so kudos to you, mumma! If the school years aren’t upon you yet, we imagine you’re still going through some adjustment phases with your newborn, toddler or tummy. Regardless, we are with you and we want to help you get through it!

To do this, we have curated a list of ‘isolation hacks’ to help make your days run a little smoother. Think of it as refuge for you – some time off while your kids indulge in them or some avenues for you to indulge in yourself. It isn’t much but we hope these portals come as some welcome relief when you’ve exhausted all your other resources.

For your convenience, we’ve split these into categories (ya welcome):

FOR THE BIG KIDS

YOUTUBE CHANNELS:

https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCcYRw5J5-C8plZoeZ7x2QQw - this is all doll repaints which we know sounds crazy but it’s oddly addictive (and her accent is kinda fun)! Super mind numbing stuff to pass the time.

https://www.youtube.com/user/Ivorygirl48 - this gal does lots of Wish and Amazon prom dress try ons and we find it very entertaining. She also has her mum in lots of vidz and she is the cutest thing ever.

https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCoc_XJPj6YLMQDWtPDQcDtA -Brad Mondo literally just reacts to these gals ruining their hair or terrible Americas next top model make overs. Also mind numbing entertainment.

https://www.youtube.com/user/TheSorryGirls - lots of home décor and DIYS from some fab Canadian gals!

https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCrh9tOpAY2-Ev5pRssXq2Wg - another Canadian home decor/DIY channel who uses lots of Ikea. She also has another channel where she makes over office spaces!

https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC3rLoj87ctEHCcS7BuvIzkQ - miss mojo do top ten from all kinds of walks of lifes, movies, songs, tv shows etc. Its fun to watch along and totally disagree with everything they pick!

https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC8rkCF5kyJT7YYR46xCecqw - drag queen that styles wigs!

https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCTldDNXS4GeChcmwm55mXYQ - nail tech who does tutorials and gawdy designs but it’s fun to watch!

https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCAQHQEO4QpI5dXtr3vLoFCg - a guy that details cars. Just fun (and addictive) to watch these filthy cars get cleaned. Doesn’t motivate us to clean ours but still!

TV SHOWS:

To start with we have a thoroughly curated list of the Real Housewives series’ in order of fave to least fave:

1. Beverly Hills

2. Atlanta

3. New York

4. New Jersey

5. Orange County

KUWTK (or Keeping up with the Kardashians to the layman)

We know people are going to groan about this BUT if you kick it old school and watch from season 1 it’s actually a real laugh. Klassic Kris Jenner is a Kween.

Vanderpump Rules

A spin off of RHOBV (Real Housewives of Beverly Hills). It’s all about the workers in Lisa Vanderpump’s Hollywood restaurants. Cheating scandals, friendship bust ups, shoplifting scandals – it’s all happening!

Botched

I mean, who doesn’t love a botch boob job makeover!?

The Simple Life

Another classic! Thea early days of Paris and Nicole trying to make it in the ‘real world’, ha!

RuPauls Drag Race

Honestly, if you’re not already watching this, please do! It literally combines all aspects that make for a great reality show. Drama, singing, acting, drama, dancing, makeup, costumes, drama, comedy, sass and drama

Fixer Upper

It’s Joanna Gaines. From Magnolia Farm. She’s beautiful, everything she does is beautiful, her life is beautiful

Flip or Flop

Another reno show with another beautiful female host. Questionable design taste but that’s kinda the fun part! Nothing quite like judging someone’s taste from the comfort of your own lounge!

House Hunters & House Hunters International

These two shows let you put yourself in the buyers position!

TV SHOWS (Netflix):

The Goop Lab

Our gal Gwenny’s new show. This is one the hubby will even love

Love is Blind

Another binge worthy show…. if things are getting desperate

The Good Place

Strap in. There’s four seasons of this and it’s oddly addictive. Short episodes, a super easy, light hearted watch and stars the beautiful Kristen Bell (aka Anna from Frozen)

The Crown

For the Royal loving fiends. A little slow in some parts but if you love history and a good old dose of the Windsor’s, this one is for you.

Dead to Me

There’s only one season of this and we can guarantee you’ll be hanging out for the second once you’re done. Starring Christina Applegate, it’s a weirdly fantastic show with a bit of a morbid backstory.

Boy Swallows Universe - Trent Dalton

The Grace Year - Kim Liggett
